Clinic lauds donation - Thanks to the people of Mackay

THE work of the Morobe Special Education Resource Centre has been given a boost with the donation of audio and optic equipment from Australia.
The donated equipment, from the people of Mackay in Central Queensland include hearing aids, batteries, three diagnostic audiometers, hearing toys and a range of optic equipment and supplies.
Lae resident Pat Riddle recently responded to the need of the Hearing and Optical Clinic and voluntarily made a request to her Australian hometown of Mackay.

She appealed to her family, friends and the community to donate any hearing and optical aids and equipment which was of no use to them any more.

Donations of various audio supplies came from the generous Mackay public, while the Australian Hearing Centre in Brisbane donated the three diagnostic audiometers and a local Mackay audiologist Denise Comben donated another audiometer.

Disability Screening co-ordinator Jessica Barry, who heads the hearing clinic said on receiving the donated equipment and supplies that the centre really needed them.

She said for her, it was a wish come true.

Mrs Barry said she would like to provide aid and services to those with hearing disabilities at a more reasonable and affordable cost however, this was not possible due to the high costs of purchasing equipment.
However, the generous donations of the various hearing aids will now allow Mrs Barry to provide help and service to the public at an affordable cost.

The Optical clinic has over the past three years received donated optical materials and equipment through the voluntarily work and generosity of Ms Riddle and the people of Mackay.

Donations this time to the Optical workshop include lenses, a lens frame heater, a lens meter and three machines used to cut and shape lenses. Mrs Riddle said that many thanks ought to
